Chain

15 Gold, 40 lbs

Chain, usually used for securing objects or vehicles, is usually 20 ft. in length.

1 Minute - 1 Creature or Object (Touch)

You secure two objects together, provided the chain can link onto both objects. You require tools, such as tinker's or smith's tools (and proficiency in those tools), to lock the chain around each end.

Engineering (DC 15)

  • Success (DC 15): The target is restrained.

  • Chain: Has an AC of 18, is immune to poison and psychic damage, resistant to non-adamantine physical, cold, electric, fire, necrotic, and sonic damage, and must take 5 damage at once to break. After breaking, an attempt to escape the chain automatically succeeds, but still takes an action.

  • Failure: No effect.

Escape Chain

Action - Touch

Athletics Check (DC 30)* or Acrobatics Check (DC 20)

  • Success: Target is no longer bound. If using athletics, the chain is broken.

  • Failure: No effect.

Release Chain

1 Minute - (5 ft.)

You require tools, such as tinker's or smith's tools (and proficiency in those tools), to release a creature or object from chains.

Engineering Check (DC 15)

  • Success: Creature or object is no longer bound.

  • Failure: No effect.

*Remember that with Elkan rules, you add +5 to a natural 20s with skill checks. If not using this rule, the DC to escape using athletics should be 25.
