Guards and Wards

Action - 6th Level (Abjuration) - VSM - 24 Hours

Utility

You create a ward that protects up to 2,500 square feet of floor space (an area 50 ft square, or one hundred 5-ft squares). The warded area can be shaped as you desire, and you may ward multiple stories of a stronghold. You may designate safe creatures to ignore the effects of your ward. You may ward multiple levels of a building, provided the total area does not exceed 2,500 sq. ft. per casting.

  • Corridors: Fog fills all warded corridors, making them heavily obscured. Strong wind disperses the fog in 10 rounds, but it reforms 10 minutes later.

  • Doors: All warded doors are magically locked, as if by the Arcane Lock spell.

  • Stairs: Webs fill all stairwells, as if created by the Web spell.

  • Chamber: You may place Magic Mouth spells at up to two locations.

  • Choice: You may also select one of the following effects:

    • Place Dancing Lights in four corridors. You may designate a simple program that the lights repeat while Guards and Wards lasts.

    • Place Magic Mouth in two locations.

    • Place Stinking Cloud in two locations. The vapors appear in the places you designate; they return within 10 minutes if dispersed by wind while Guards and Wards lasts.

    • Place a constant Gust of Wind in one corridor or room.

    • Place a constant Suggestion in one location. You select an area of up to 5 feet square; any creature that enters or passes through the area receives the Suggestion mentally.

  • When casting Dispel Magic if successful, removes only the specific effect targetted.

  • You can make the ward permanent by casting Guards and Wards on the same location every day for one year.
