Scrying

Peering into a crystal ball, magic mirror, or scrying pool, you attempt to summon a scrying sensor to watch a creature from afar. A creature that can see invisible objects sees the sensor as a luminous orb about the size of your fist.

10 Minutes - 1 Creature - 5th Level (Divination) - VSM - Concentration (10 Minutes)

Materials: You require a focus worth 750 gp, such as a crystal ball, magic mirror, or scrying pool.

Summoning Spell

You can target a creature or location you've been to before, which can be anywhere on the same plane of existence as you. You don't need line of sight. When targeting a location, it always succeeds (unless divination magic doesn't function in the area), and a scrying sensor is created in the location and doesn't move.

When targeting a creature, the target makes a save.

Charisma Save

  • Failure: A scrying sensor is created within 10 feet of the target. The sensor follows the target for the duration, remaining within 10 feet.

  • Success: No effect, and you can't use this spell against it for 24 hours.

  • The target's save is modified by how well you know them and the physical connection you have to them, based on the following tables:

Knowledge of Target

Scrying Sensor

  • The sensor is a tiny construct that is always invisible. It looks like a small luminous orb to creatures who can see it.

  • The sensor is immune to all conditions (except invisible) and damage. Creatures and objects pass through it harmlessly. The sensor can be dispelled.

  • You can see through the sensor by peering into your crystal ball, magic mirror, or scrying pool. The sensor has no senses of its own, but you can use your senses (such as Darkvision) as if in the sensor's location. You cannot see a creature or object protected from divination with the sensor.
