Shapechange

Action - Self - 9th Level (Transmutation) - VSM - 1 Hours

Utility

This spell has no effect if you attempt to transform into a Construct, an Undead, or a creature you have not seen before.

  • You assume the form of a creature with a CR up to your level. You become an average specimen of that creature (no class levels, no Spellcasting trait).

  • Statistics: Replace your statistics with those of the new form. Retain your alignment, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. Keep your saving throw and skill proficiencies, and gain those of the new form (using the higher value if both overlap).

  • Hit Points: You assume the new form's Hit Points and Hit Dice. When you revert, you return to the HP you had before. If reduced to 0 HP, excess damage carries over to your original form; you aren't Unconscious unless that also reduces your original form to 0 HP.

  • Actions: You cannot use legendary actions or lair actions of the new form.

  • Features: You retain class, race, and other features if your new form can physically use them. You cannot use special senses you have (e.g. Darkvision) unless the form also has them. You can only speak if the new form can speak.

  • Equipment: Choose whether equipment (a) falls to the ground, (b) merges with your form (inactive), or (c) is worn if practical. Equipment does not resize.

  • Changing Form: During the spell's duration, you may use your Action to assume another eligible form. If the new form has higher HP than your current total, your HP remain unchanged.
